Requisition ID: 202427Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Director, Business Line Support is part of the GBM Financial Planning & Analysis team responsible for providing value-added analytical and strategic support to GBM’s business lines and senior management to facilitate achievement of GBM’s business objectives. The Director, Business Line Support is also responsible for representing GBM with respect to broader balance sheet matters, including liquidity, leverage, and capital, across the Bank. The GBM Financial Planning & Analysis team is the primary point of contact between Global Finance and GBM’s business lines with respect to financial and strategic analyses and related enquiries.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Strategic Partnering to the Business Line – Providing analysis, support and counsel to the business line including participation in efforts to launch or assess new products, business changes, review tax efficiencies, SOX matters, trading analysis and manage business opportunities that require accounting policy support.
- Supporting Balance Sheet Financial Forecasting and Planning – Working together with partners to support the review of financial plans and forecasts with a balance sheet focus. Identifying issues and provide commentary related to financial results and/or forecasts in relation to key metrics.
- Collaborating on Capital Matters – Supporting the execution of GBM’s strategic initiatives including balance sheet optimization and aligning business mix with operational and business analysis. Leveraging strong understanding of key business constraints including wholesale funding, regulatory capital, RWA, liquidity and leverage to help optimize GBM’s balance sheet resources to maximize client profitability in consideration of these constraints.
- Management Information Systems – Working collaboratively with other stakeholders in GBM to access MIS data required to perform the duties of the position including data related to profitability and performance as well as capital and funding usage on a business line, product, geographic, or client basis.
- Strategic Financial Analysis – Supporting inbound requests from Executive Management, auditors, regulators, ratings agencies, research analysts and other external parties as required. Preparing and provide analytical support including analysis and data related to business line, product, geographic, or client profitability or balance sheet, capital, and/or funding usage.
- Creating a Positive Team Environment – Contributing to an environment in which the team works together to produce creative and value-added strategic analysis while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you possess:
- Graduate degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration or Chartered Financial Analyst designation or comparable experience
- Minimum 10 years of GBM business line and or Finance experience.
- Strong capital management knowledge is an asset
- Highly developed understanding of GBM’s capital markets business lines, financial reporting process, compliance policies, performance measurement, planning and analysis, service standards, and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills including financial modelling.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills and proven ability to provide insightful and influential analysis to Executive Management.
- An expert ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments/stakeholders, requiring a mature, diplomatic approach and highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines, in some cases on special projects requiring creative analysis and solutions.
