Flight Line Avionics Mechanic II- 2nd Shift (Full Time)
Department: All OpeningsResponsible for assisting Supervisor and Lead Person in the production of aircraft parts and assemblies, as well as the installation and testing of aircraft systems and equipment following Piper Drawings, Schematics, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:

  • Maintaining compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements as well as aircraft and systems testing.
  • Perform initial Avionics set up, fuel calibrations, navigations and communications systems checks, air speed and altitude indication calibrations, autopilot checks and pitot static leak checks and adjustments all M-Class model production aircraft including the use of all required electrical test equipment.
  • Occasionally remove/install various components and systems throughout the complete aircraft per Piper type design requirements.
  • Ability to be able to troubleshoot, identify and communicate all non-conformances relevant to the Avionics set up to the Supervisor, Senior Avionics Mechanic and Quality Control.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct the interface between avionics and various aircraft systems and functions.
  • Ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
  • Adhere, maintain and assist teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
  • Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion Flight Line Avionics Mechanic program or 2 years’ experience preferred
  • Related Flight Line Avionics Mechanic experience requirements:
  • Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I: ≤ 2 years of experience
  • Flight Line Avionics Mechanic II: 2 – 5 years of experience
  • Senior Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I: 5 – 9 years of experience
  • Senior Flight Line Avionics Mechanic II: ≥ 9 years of experience
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Use of hand and power tools as required
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions

Physical DemandsDemonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
