Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Director – Insurance Finance, Performance Management, will be responsible for ensuring month end close processes are producing accurate and up to date results within the required timelines and that the subsequent reporting processes are meeting all requirements and are providing value-added business intelligence to the Insurance and CFO leadership team. This will involve working in close collaboration with the Finance Advisory team, the Day 2 team, GRMI, management and other key stakeholders. The Director will be enhancing month end and governance processes in all areas.What you will do?

  • Lead the month end close process through both RISE and EPM ensuring activities remain on schedule to ensure all close deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate the completion of journal entries and other inputs into the month end close process.
  • Responsible for the review and oversight of month end processes leading to complete, accurate and explainable results enabling the delivery of all Insurance management reporting requirements to senior management and external audiences. Includes Board, GE, Insurance OC and External Reporting
  • Responsible for researching and resolving issues within the close process to enable the above.
  • Drive process improvements with all contributors to the close process.
  • Influence best practices and enhance synergies among finance teams. Ensure and enhance co-operation and coordination among finance groups including interaction with GRMI and business partners.
  • Identify problems and solutions and drive change with creative options aligned with business strategies and tactics, and ensure compliance with established internal controls. Implement and sustain best practices, synergies and cost savings opportunities across platforms, ensuring that the Insurance platform is making use of corporate finance technology (i.e. Finance Shared Services) and processes.
  • Act on behalf of Senior Director – Finance as required in senior meetings and projects.

What you need to succeed?Must Have

  • Professional accounting designation and/or post graduate business degree
  • 7+ years’ of Financial Services related experience including 2+ years’ of People Management experience
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with proven ability to communicate at all levels; strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence/impact without direct authority
  • Experience with forecasting and reporting processes, coordinating large initiatives, working within deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and products.
