It will be a rewarding place for people to work now and for generations to come.The Packaging Resource will be responsible for all the associated duties described below to support the plant goals. The primary purpose of this role is to maintain company packaging assets in Dextrose, Starch, and Corn Syrup Solids using best practices to meet safety, quality, environmental and production goals. The Packaging Resource reports to the Maintenance Manager but works closely with the Day Resources, SC’s, Engineering, Area Managers, and Operations Manager. The Packaging Resource will coordinate, delegate, and follow up on the efforts of the maintenance technicians, operators, and contractors to meet the objectives. The Packaging Resource may have reports to review and manage.Main accountabilitiesSpecific responsibilities include:Maintain an environment where safety comes first by promoting and expecting excellence in safety.
- Daily review GenSuite for any safety incidents are reported, near misses are addressed.
- Monitor safety work order backlogs.
- Monitor safe work practices, promotes Safe Start.
- Ensure that inspections are 100% (incentive checklist)
- Manage and work with individual areas to assure any safety upgrades are installed timely and proper.
- Ensure the Packaging Safety Standards are applied to any new purchased equipment.
Operations/Maintenance
- Active shutdown/slowdown planning for each area.
- Manpower management of both Primient operators, maintenance, E&I and contractors. This includes training, resource combination opportunities, etc.
- Interface with Area Day Resources to plan weekly and monthly schedules for PMs to complete work and keep overtime to a minimum.
- Work with the areas to establish daily, weekly, and monthly priorities.
- Attend planning meetings when appropriate.
- Review and combine spare parts where appropriate.
- Establish contacts with our suppliers and maintain off hour contact information.
- Key member to any project team in the packaging areas.
Maintain a clean work environment consistent with GMP goals for the plant.
- Establish and maintain GMP standards for each area and team.
- Monitor areas for attainment.
- Audit areas weekly.
Improve reliability, control Costs, and make cost conscious decisions.
- Weigh repair vs. cost of new.
- Accountability for area maintenance budget
- Manage productivity of contractor’s, suppliers, and outside services.
- Minimize downtime through good planning.
- Set up training plans for maintenance and operations, also monitor skill block process.
- Maintain standards of good workmanship
- Work within CI to investigate and remedy premature and repeat failures, any customer complaints. This position is the main contact for customer complaints and supplier complaints for the plant. Set clear action plans and follow through to attainment.
- Use all available predictive and preventative technology to maximize equipment reliability.
- Interface with vendors, sister plants and contractors in problem resolution.
- Manage PM program to prevent failures and keep equipment in excellent working order.
- Use collected preventive and predictive maintenance data to improve equipment reliability.
- Publish and review work plans for the packaging departments.
- Publish a one-page report monthly that is shared with all appropriate operations and maintenance supervision and operators. This report is to include any safety issues, training updates, project updates, GMP scores, complaint updates, and any reliability issues.
Required skills, experience, and traits:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Technology related field preferred not required, with five – eight years of related professional experience in a heavy industrial environment working with mechanical maintenance or engineering teams.
- Supervisor experience is preferred.
- Must be self-motivated, diligent, detail oriented, and possess very strong time management discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, schematics, assembly drawings, and machine manuals.
- Strong writing skills; must be able to communicate instructions and procedures clearly to skilled crafts.
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to accept and act upon feedback from others.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Outlook e-mail.
- Prior maintenance planning experience
- Familiarity with SAP maintenance system is preferred but not required.
