The Opportunity: As a part of Maple Leaf Food’s Finance team, the Finance Analyst will provide accounting and financial support to our Distribution team for Prepared Meats business by performing variety of analysis and cost tracking activities. This position will also support inventory reporting, reconciliation and settlement of customer allowances, preparation of forecasts and budgets. This position reports directly to Finance Manager, Supply Chain.Any MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by July 25. - Perform month-end activities including accruals, allocations, adjusting entries, etc.
- Prepare and distribute weekly & monthly reporting for Inventory, Freight & Storage reviews and various cost trackers.
- Review and analyze variances and report on significant issues.
- Support annual budget and forecast process including updating templates and interacting with business leaders to obtain their inputs.
- Maintain freight & storage pricing in SAP and act as a key point of contact with respect to any questions. Work closely with commercial teams on distribution estimates.
- Prepare and publish weekly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and ensure their correctness.
- Process and analyze customer distribution allowances and investigate all variances.
- Reconcile & balance Finished Goods inventories in SAP. Prepare assigned balance sheets and ensure all discrepancies are investigated and corrected.
- Provide Ad Hoc reporting and support requests from various areas of the business.
- Provide support in various analytical initiatives and cost saving projects.
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary education in a finance / business related program is required.
- 1+ years of accounting / finance experience, ERP environment experience is an asset.
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with cost accounting, budgeting and internal controls.
