Role PurposeAn Post operates a fleet of over 3700 delivery vehicles in Delivery Units nationwide. Reporting to the Head of Logistics, the National Fleet Manager oversees the management, administration and maintenance of An Post’s Final Mile Delivery Fleet and related equipment & suppliers. The National Fleet Manager will work as part of a team responsible for supporting our Final Mile delivery & collections operations through managing & maintaining a diverse range of vehicles including CMV’s, eTrikes and cycles. The National Fleet Manager will partner with suppliers to continually find the most effective & efficient solutions to meet the evolving needs of our business.ResponsibilitiesThe primary accountabilities associated with this role include but are not limited to the following:Safety First: Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.Ensure compliance with Road Traffic acts and Company policies.Lead, support, guide & direct the Transport Administration Manager and teams to ensure the effective running of the Transport administration office.KPI’s & Metrics: Ensure that all available data & insights are used to improve the effective & efficient running of our Final Mile fleet.Procurement: Partner with our Procurement teams to compliantly procure vehicles, plant and related services (e.g., fuel, spare parts) by preparing specifications, arranging tender procedures, and evaluating tenders.Supplier & Stakeholder Relations: Foster productive working partnerships & relationships both internally and externally with key stakeholders and suppliers.Responsible for vehicle specification and maintenance of the fleet.Manage a team of four Regional Transport Managers and be responsible for their performance and development.Maintain fleet within agreed budgets and standards ensuring costs are actively assessed and managed.This is an evolving role which will change depending on the needs of the business.Advocating and demonstrating An Post’s values and behaviours in your day to day work and addressing behaviour that supports/conflicts with them.Knowledge & ExperienceYou must have at least 3 years’ fleet management experience with the necessary technical and management experience and/or qualifications. You have proven working knowledge and experience utilising data driven insights to optimise efficiencies and performance.You are self-motivated, capable of working on your own initiative and as part of a team with the ability to work to strict deadlines. Knowledge of developments in the Motor Industry, Road Traffic Acts, Health & Safety Regulations as well as strong commercial awareness is essential. As a leader you have strong management skills and are passionate about the development of others, thus strong interpersonal and leadership skills are also essential.This role is currently based in Mullingar Transport HQ and will require regular travel to sites nationally.Excellent leadership, strategic thinking and coaching ability are crucial for this role, as you will ultimately be responsible for large numbers of staff.
