You will join a small team of multi-skilled professionals to develop, implement and execute a comprehensive approach to auditing the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) portfolio. You will build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal colleagues within Internal Audit and business partners across all three lines of defense. You will promote compliance with CIBC policies and procedures, standards, guidelines, and relevant legislation. Additionally, the senior manager is responsible for ensuring activities are conducted to high standards of accuracy, rigor, and credibility, and according to regulations and industry standards.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How you’ll succeedAudit effectiveness & project management – Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan, track and execute multiple activities at different stages to ensure completion within required timelines. Communicate regularly on progress and issues and review work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.Project management expertise – You will lead the development and tracking of detailed project plans that effectively incorporate appropriate risks, scope, staffing requirements, timelines, budgets and business partner coordination as required. You will develop procedures, roles and responsibilities, standards and best practices that exemplify high standards of accuracy, rigor, and credibility and according to regulations and industry standards.Audit reporting – Produce periodic summary reports where you objectively assess and convey the adequacy of the audit work completed in that period in a clear, concise and professional way.Communication – Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing strategy documents, recommendations and audit memos, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators and external auditors.Relationships – Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risk, control and regulatory matters. Provide trusted and proactive advice to internal partners as they progress through their Real Estate Secured Lending audit plans.Who you areYou can demonstrate experience of 5 years in auditing practices and accounting principles and processes, and strong knowledge with a focus on retail banking, ideally real estate secured lending, and the related Canadian regulatory environmentYou’re a certified professional. Typically this knowledge is acquired through obtaining an auditing or accounting designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CGA, CPA, ACCA), a business degree (e.g., MBA), in addition to business experience either in the banking or financial services industry or internal / external audit assurance and consulting servicesYou understand that success is in the details.
