Job description

Corpus Christi College intends to appoint a dedicated individual to the post of Bursar. Corpus is the sixth oldest college in the University of Cambridge and one of the smallest, with 310 undergraduate and 190 postgraduate students, 60 Fellows and 120 staff. Corpus is known for its friendly atmosphere, its long tradition of academic excellence, its strong commitment to access and widening participation for both undergraduates and post graduates, and its Parker Library, which houses a collection of manuscripts of world-historical significance.Responsible to the Governing Body, the Bursar is the senior financial and administrative officer of the College and plays a pivotal role alongside the Master in the leadership of a diverse and close-knit College community. The Bursar has general responsibility for all matters related to College finances and investments, the management of the College estate, properties, information services, staff, catering and conferencing, and administration. The postholder will also be responsible for helping to develop and execute the College’s strategic vision and for driving operational policy that supports the College’s core educational mission. The successful candidate will be elected to a Fellowship and will be a member of the Governing Body. The new Bursar will have the scope to think creatively about financial strategy, sustainability and the College’s future capital projects.Candidates will have experience of senior management, ideally across a broad range of responsibilities, in a complex organisation, and will have a proven ability to inspire and empower staff. They will bring a solid track-record of strategic planning, with strong skills in personnel and project management, and in administration. They will bring strong commercial instincts. They should be supportive of and enthusiastic about development and fundraising activity. They will be an inspirational leader and a confident operator, able to engage intellectually with the Governing Body and donors, as well as staff and students. The successful candidate will be an active and engaged member of the College community.
