Hybrid work environments with onsite requirements.Work location: Edmonton, AB.The opportunityThe Manager, Treasury Balance Sheet Execution will report directly to the AVP Treasury Balance Sheet Execution and work closely with other senior members of the Treasury team daily, including the Treasurer. They will be responsible to assist in monitoring, assessing and managing Canadian Western Bank’s (CWB) overall interest rate risk.The day to day…Responsible for daily treasury liquidity operations and money market portfolio, including reviewing cash position and money market transactions.Support the Treasury Execution team with CWB’s balance sheet activities and positioning, as related to cash management, hedging, FX, portfolio management and, etc.Synthesize market information, develop own market views and strategies, and communicate those regularly with AVP Treasury Balance Sheet Execution, Deputy Treasurer and Treasurer.Follow the credit development of approved issuers, provide important updates as required and make recommendations for credit outlook when appropriate.Maintain and continuously improve portfolio reporting to enhance accuracy and analytical capability.Work collaboratively and effectively with other teams in Treasury on ad hoc projects, process improvement and regular tasks.Follow any capital market development in regulation, products and policies that may affect CWB’s balance sheet management activities.Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of valuation models and quantitative tools used for interest rate and liquidity risk management.Compile data to assist Senior Management in preparation of ALCo and other ad hoc reporting.Work collaboratively with other functional areas such as Risk Management and Finance.Build and maintain relationships with the broker/dealing community.Successful incumbentThe successful candidate will be extensively involved in the management of CWB’s daily cash positions, FX transactions, liquidity portfolio and derivatives. The Manager, Treasury Balance Sheet Execution shall demonstrate a strong understanding of capital markets and make independent decisions based on complex information from CWB’s balance sheet and global markets. The person will also play a key role in formulating the team’s macro-outlook and interest rate risk management decisions.They are known to be a self-starter adept at clearly communicating with internal and external contacts, synthesizing complex financial market information, and prioritizing unstructured tasks. They excel in problem-solving, written communication, and collaboration, winning the trust and respect of business partners in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.Foundational knowledge and experience to grow fromUniversity diploma/degree in Commerce, Mathematics, Finance, Economics or Accounting.Minimum three to five years of relevant work experience in areas such as treasury, investment management, investment analytics, financial modelling, and economic researchStrong quantitative and analytical thinking skills, with attention to detail.Knowledge of fixed income, FX, structured products, securitization vehicles, and derivatives.Working knowledge of IFRS accounting concepts applicable for Canadian financial institutions.Strong working knowledge of Canadian regulatory environment for financial institutions.Strong understanding of modern banking business strategies and products.High competency with Microsoft Word and Excel, especially in VBA.Proficient with Bloomberg and QRM.Put your career in the spotlight.
