The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high quality and distinctive education for adult learners on a part-time basis, for personal enrichment or professional development. ICE aims to ensure that the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievements.We wish to appoint one part-time Teaching Associate at 0.5 FTE to contribute to the flourishing and rapidly developing portfolio of award-bearing and short course creative writing programmes. The role will be available from 01 October 2024.The ideal candidate will be a writer with an established record of productions, films, and/or publication who has broad experience of teaching creative writing for performance at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We seek applicants who write for screen (film and television), stage and radio.The successful applicant will have a proven track record of contributing to curriculum design and assessment in creative writing. They will have a student-centred approach to teaching and experience of supervising students from diverse backgrounds. They will be familiar with the latest developments in teaching creative writing, including online delivery, and will enjoy being part of a close-knit teaching team but will also be capable of leading courses and initiatives. Experience of teaching adults and mature students is desirable and a commitment to lifelong learning essential.Ideally, they will have a higher degree, preferably a doctoral-level in a relevant specialist subject area, and a track record of recent productions, films, and/or publications. They will be committed to maintaining and developing knowledge of their own subject area.They will have extensive connections in the world of stage and screen, and academia. They will also have the ability to promote the Institute’s reputation for excellence in teaching creative writing in the UK and abroad, and through the University of Cambridge Centre for Creative Writing based at Madingley Hall.Full details of the roles and requirements can be found in the Further Particulars document at the link below.
