We are looking for a Senior Technical Financial Accountant in our Financial Controls and External Reporting Team. Interested? More details and how to apply can be found below.About the Role
Reporting into Financial Accounting and External Reporting Lead you will be the main contact for technical accounting guidance across the Group. You will work closely with business partners across Finance to develop new financial accounting policies and the production of accounting papers for auditors and senior stakeholders. You will also be the key liaison for the external auditor throughout the audit process.You will also assist in the production of accurate and timely year end and half year Group (consolidated) Financial Statements and Financial Statements for the subsidiaries and Regulated business. You will lead a critical review of contents and supporting evidence for primary financial statements, including cash flow, and key supporting notes to the externally reported accounts.You will work closely with business partners, including those in Tax, Treasury, and company actuaries, to develop robust processes and controls to accurately capture and reflect complex financial transactions in line with IFRS. You will ensure IFRS 16 accounting is complete and accurate so that the required analysis for the external auditor is available.About You
To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS. The key accounting standards relevant to the Group are IFRS 15 (Revenue), IFRS 16 (Leases), IAS 19 (Pensions) and IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments).
  • Recent experience of working in one of the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms in either a technical accounting advisory role or as an external auditor is highly desirable.
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots etc), knowledge of SAP also an advantage, an appetite to learn the Lease Accounting System and new tools such as Alteryx.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – you will need to be able to communicate complex accounting concepts to senior management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • A continuous improvement mindset – a desire to improve processes and make efficiencies.
  • Up-to-date and strong working knowledge of international accounting standards.
