Requisition ID: 204003Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis supports the strategic direction, leadership and oversight for finance matters for Global Wealth Management (GWM) and Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM) finance business partners, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures, and overall financial performance.Provides support for defining, managing, directing, delivering, planning and forecasting the overall financial processes, controls and reporting of data for Global Wealth Management and Scotia Global Asset Management.As a key partner to the overall GWM Finance management team, the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for applying analytics to develop and enhance the financial intelligence capabilities of Wealth Management Finance around planning and forecasting, financial analysis, regulatory changes, financial methodology, and strategic planning. This includes providing greater financial insight to the business lines partners (internal and external views), management and coordination of planning within Asset Management, and improve the financial production effectiveness.The incumbent reports to the Senior Manager and works in close partnership with the business leaders and other business partners, to drive insightful analysis, and continuously looks for opportunities for process optimization. The Manager is required to demonstrate strong leadership skills to drive adoption of new financial planning (budgeting and forecasting) processes and procedures within Asset Management. A key part of the role is to manage business relationships and provide deep-analytics and insights to support the business and drive business results. This includes conducting research and analysis based on industry and competitive intelligence (such as IFIC statistics, etc), and structuring / organizing data and building efficient reporting solutions. In addition, the Manager is also responsible for managing the – (1) monthly / quarterly reporting, (2) development of the annual financial plans, (3) and quarterly forecasts for the business.The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining and continuous improvement of the management reporting system for Canadian Asset Management Finance and to support finance-related issues for the division.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support Business Line / Product Level Reporting and Insightful Analysis
- Support the Wealth Management Quarterly forecast and Annual profit plan processes
- Support Month-end and Quarter-end Reporting
- Supports the Director, Sr. Manager and Managers in the information gathering process and analysis for strategic and tactical projects requested by Senior management
- Support ad hoc analysis requests as required, including the development of Finance reports as requested and endeavor to improve financial information.
- Provides resolution to Finance Division request for information on financial and management reports, revenue and expense analysis and any other finance-related inquires. Also, assist in various ad-hoc reporting for Senior Management.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships within Wealth Management Finance and Wealth Management business units as well as divisional support functions as required
- Directs financial reviews to improve management processes and standardize methodologies. Implement and maintain constantly evolving performance measurement practices, and reporting by:
- Working with the Business Line to create and automate various annual plans and quarterly/multi-year forecast processes, including all balance sheet and P&L items
- Lead the production of various monthly and quarterly performance dashboards and scorecards including value-added performance commentary and variance analysis.
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

- University undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or other related field;
- Accounting Designation preferred
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
- Minimum of 5 years directly related experience in a financial area
- Must have previous database management experience, working with Hyperion or similar financial applications
- Thorough knowledge of Global Wealth Management’s products/services, business lines, financial reports, compliance, performance measurement, planning and analysis, service standards, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of management/accounting methods and practices including product profitability, ROEE measurement techniques.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills required to develop the vision, goals, strategies, and plans for the Finance Department aligning with the overall Bank strategy.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of finance and the ability to continuously and critically analyze the current state for new concepts, insights and opportunities for improvement.
- Strong initiative, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to create or stimulate integrated cross disciplinary strategic solutions.
- Skilled in gaining the organizational commitment and alignment of various stakeholders in GWM through the use of strong interpersonal skills and win-win outcomes.
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills that can be applied across all functional levels and areas within the organization
- Demonstrated leadership skills and relationship management expertise
