Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?The Associate Director, Enterprise Risk Reporting, plays a key role in the production and enhancement of risk reports and presentations for the Chief Risk Officer, Senior Management, and the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors.You will be responsible for the quarterly Enterprise Risk Report, the Risk Management disclosure in RBC’s Financial Reports to Shareholders, peer benchmarking analysis and other risk-related presentations.The team strives to continuously improve reporting efficiency and effectiveness. Reports produced must be complete, accurate, timely and actionable, while delivering value-add analysis and business insights and meeting the requirements of Senior Management, the Risk Committee of the Board, internal and external audit and our regulators.What will you do?

  • Contribute to the production and enhancement of key risk reports such as the quarterly Enterprise Risk Report, the Risk Management disclosure in RBC’s Financial Reports to Shareholders, peer benchmarking analysis, and other risk-related presentations
  • Coordinate and be responsible for delivering value-add analysis and business insights on the risks facing the organization with colleagues across Group Risk Management (GRM), Investor Relations, Finance, Corporate Treasury and the Business Segments
  • Contribute to the preparation of risk-related materials, including presentations and Q&A for the investment community, which requires liaising with Investor Relations, GRM, Finance and the Business Segments
  • Ensure that reporting processes meet all controls and governance requirements, and that reports are fully supported by clear and concise working papers, reconciliations and audit-ready supporting files
  • Lead the enhancement of risk reporting processes and capabilities to meet future requirements (including new requests from Senior Management, or regulatory or policy changes) or to make the production of reports/presentations more effective and efficient
  • Continually enhance report contents, controls and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness (e.g. automation, peer benchmarking, authoritative data sourcing, reconciliation, etc.)
  • Execute on ad-hoc presentations and/or risk-related initiatives as required
  • Analyze and prepare supported responses to inquiries from the Chief Risk Officer, GRM and RBC Senior Management, and internal/external audit

What do you need to succeed?Must-have:

  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with in-depth knowledge in any of the following disciplines: risk management (credit, market, operational, etc.), financial reporting, investor relations, equity research
  • Ability to research, analyze, understand and effectively communicate complex risk information for senior executives, the directors of the board or the investment community, and create highly effective senior management or board level presentations
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy with strong attention to details. Excellent organizational skills and capability to effectively manage multiple time-sensitive priorities while meeting timelines
  • Analytic and strategic thinking skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations, to drive best in class execution
  • A proactive self-starting mindset who is able to handle pressure effectively and has experience working with senior management teams
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Nice to Have:

  • CPA-CA/CMA/CGA, CFA or other finance/accounting certificate. Sound knowledge of risk management and/or risk mitigation strategies
  • Working experiences in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Tableau) and/or querying large data sets (e.g., SQL)
  • Sound knowledge of credit products, principles, rules, guidelines, policies, approvals and understanding of credit terminologies
  • Previous experience in process innovation, development and improvement in reporting
