Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?This is an exciting opportunity in Wholesale Finance where you will play an instrumental role in leveraging RBC’s big data assets to build automation solutions and data analytics models. We are currently seeking for an individual with strong data engineering/analysis background who is quick to adapt to new technologies and enthusiastic about developing innovative solutions to support the digital transformation in Finance. This role will work with various stakeholders in helping to identify business problems and prioritize them to unlock business value.The Data Strategy team in Wholesale Finance is focused on developing data solutions to support key reporting automation initiatives. Our team consists of highly accomplished professionals with various backgrounds in computer science, data, Business analytics, accounting, and finance to deliver innovative solutions that supports data-driven decisions.What will you do?Develop a sustainable and scalable data pipeline using the latest technologies.Apply design thinking and an agile mindset in working with business stakeholders to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new initiatives.Support data management processes – acquiring, transforming, and storing massive volume of structured and unstructured data.Leverage best practices in continuous integration and delivery.Automate existing processes and optimize for efficiency and data quality.Spend 70-80% time on Data Engineer and rest for Data analysis.This is not a people manager role.What do you need to succeed?Must-haveDemonstrated experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and related technologies (SQL Server, Vertica, Hive, etc).Working knowledge in implementing and performance tuning ETL pipelines using Dagster, Apache Airflow or Prefect.Proficiency in Python, specifically Pandas, SQL alchemy, NumPy and Selenium Webscrapping.Excellent analytical skills & critical thinking skills to investigate system and business issues, determine root cause, and deliver sustainable solutions.Commitment to continuous improvement; specifically, ability to identify existing processes and gaps across the current system landscape.Nice to have:Exposure to Capital Markets products and businesses.Experience in RBC IT systems and service platforms (e.g. Core, Confluence, ServiceNow, Access Manager).Open to learn and innovate using tech stack or framework like Flask, Django and any front-end framework.Experience in managing Windows Servers using IIS.Proficiency in Excel VBA.Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting & visualizations using Tableau.Basic knowledge of GitHub, APIs, Docker and/or DevOps.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
