Detailed Description:The Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2025. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar with a specialization in Heritage Language Learning and Pedagogy. Experience or specialization in bilingualism, biliteracy, dialectology, sociolinguistics, community engagement, and/or U.S. Latina/o/x literary or cultural studies is a plus. The successful candidate will teach Spanish courses at all levels as well as upper division courses in area(s) of specialization. . Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English required. Experience in language teaching and in effectively addressing diversity in curricula and the classroom is important as well as a demonstrated ability to contribute to the university’s efforts to become an Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The candidate must have a strong commitment to both teaching and scholarly achievement, as well as enthusiasm and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Our teacher-scholar model includes a 3-3 teaching load. Candidates with an interest in one or more of the following areas, Climate Change and Environmental Justice, Borders and Social Justice, and Technology and the Human Experience, will have the opportunity to join an interdisciplinary cohort with other scholars from across the College of Arts and Sciences. Job Requirements:The successful candidate will:

  • Hold an advanced degree, preferably a doctorate or other terminal degree and native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English. . ABD candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to teaching and research, mentoring undergraduates, and fostering a climate of inclusion and diversity.
  • Applicants should demonstrate an active research agenda, and a record of successful teaching at multiple levels.
