Detailed Description:The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at University of San Diego (USD) is seeking a Professor of Practice specializing in public relations (PR) to begin in the Spring 2025 semester. The Professor of Practice should be able to teach lower-division courses in public speaking and PR, and upper-division courses in PR, strategic communication, and digital analytics. The Department of Communication will begin offering a minor in PR in the fall 2024 semester. The Professor of Practice would have administrative duties within the minor. This would entail advising students within the minor, implementing professional development events for students, and organizing/advising a chapter of PRSSA.Special Conditions of Employment:Effective June 1, 2023, based on CDC guidance, the University strongly encourages all campus members to stay up to date with Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination recommendations. Job Requirements:The ideal candidate will have university teaching experience and 5+ years practicing public relations. This is a non-tenurable, benefit-based full-time position with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance. The Professor of Practice will teach three courses per semester (i.e., 3-3 load) with administrative duties related to the PR minor.
