Apply by August 25, 2024 and tell us what excites you about this role.Reporting to the VP Finance, the Manager, Corporate Accounting is responsible for the financial processes, reporting, and related analysis for Emera Inc. and other management and holding companies. This role is cross-functional, and you will work closely with operations across the Emera enterprise in a variety of jurisdictions. Key elements of this role include::This position will appeal to individuals who have leadership ambitions, are comfortable with detailed analytical work, are comfortable presenting to an executive audience, possess strong quantitative skills and are interested in contributing to achieving business results. This key position supervises a team of accounting professionals providing guidance and leadership in business reporting and processes. You are a builder of strong, constructive relationships within the business including the larger Emera finance team, Tax, IT, HR and Emera affiliates. Key accountabilities of this position include:
- Review of monthly accounting files and financial statements for a portfolio of Emera’s management and holding companies. This requires meeting tight deadlines, ensuring the accuracy of files, and working closely with other Emera departments;
- Reviewing variance analysis and communicating financial results;
- Reviewing detailed operating cost reports;
- Detailed review and involvement in budgets and forecasts;
- Preparing and reviewing information to support Emera’s quarterly Financial Statements and Management Discussion & Analysis;
- Working with other departments within Emera to collect and provide financial information;
- Assisting external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits;
- Ensuring compliance with NI 52-109 and SOx requirements, and implementation of best practices and process improvements;
- Preparing other routine and ad hoc analysis, reports and participating in projects;
- Planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks and maintaining a collaborative team environment; and
- Providing mentorship, support and backup for other members of Corporate Accounting team.
These skills will make you successful::The successful candidate is an experienced financial professional with at least five years of relevant experience and an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting with an accounting designation. Previous leadership experience would be considered an asset. You demonstrate strong communication, relationship and leadership skills. You demonstrate professional judgement and maturity, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner under tight financial reporting deadlines. You are a high-energy manager who can oversee high volumes of data. Skills and capabilities include but are not limited to:

- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong relationships and networks across the organization
