Welcome to Porte – where growth, community, and success are more than words; they’re a way of life.Explore more about us at porte.ca.JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Manager of Development Accounting, the Real Estate Accountant at Porte Development Corporation performs comprehensive accounting duties for development projects, encompassing full-cycle accounting, cash flow preparation, receivables, accounts payable, data entry, bank deposits, and month-end reporting.Required training, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Minimum 5 years of development accounting experience.
- Experience in both commercial and residential development is preferred.
- Strong technical and administrative skills.
- Proficient knowledge of Yardi Job Cost.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work well individually and in teams.
- Proficient with MS Office programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete all time-sensitive deliverables accurately, including draw processing, deposit collections, and sales reconciliations.
- Conduct bank reconciliations on a timely basis and ensure the closure of each period efficiently.
- Record GST and Utilities refund cheques and assist with filing GST and Empty Homes Tax.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly project updates and reports on project budgets, tracking and reporting on budget variances.
- Liaise with the development team, vendors, and other staff as required.
- Liaise with Project QS & lenders to provide project cost information and review draft reports.
- Prepare monthly working papers.
- Ensure invoice amounts are within contract values.
- Process Journal Entries as required.
- Reach out to lenders for BA/CDOR rates and assist with registering HPO and Travelers.
- Enter statements of adjustments on closings and general contractor invoices.
- Ensure all invoices are properly coded, and development fees are accurately calculated and paid promptly.
- Process cheques and EFT payments to vendors.
- Assist with preparation of ad hoc reports, special projects, responsibilities, and other duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Assist with the year-end audit.
