Start Date: October 2024Work hours: 40 hrs p/w (full-time, flexible)Location: Remote (within +/- 1 hour CET; candidate must have an existing permit to live and work in the country they reside)Contract: 5-6 months with a possibility for an extension by mutual consentPosition SummaryGRI is an independent NGO and standard-setter with over the last 26 years, our standards have created a global language used by organizations to provide transparency. At GRI we enable organizations to assess and report on the environmental, social, and economic impacts of their activities. We also help build organizational capacity for sustainability reporting: from our Academy training courses to working with licensing partners to enable digital reporting with GRI’s standards. Working at GRI, you will be part of unlocking positive change in the world.We are seeking a Research Manager Standards for 5–6 months, maternity leave replacement. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of our leading sustainability reporting standards and join a dynamic, fast-growing, international organization at the forefront of sustainability reporting.You will report to the Research Lead and support project managers in the development of GRI standards.As a Research Manager Standards, you will:

  • Assess knowledge gaps in the activities of GRI and provide data and analysis that fill those gaps.
  • Compile data, identifying the best available sources and determining their validity; store the data safely and efficiently, ensuring access by colleagues.
  • Analyse quantitative or qualitative data, applying appropriate tools and methodologies.

ResponsibilitiesDelivery

  • Identify and adopt new tools and methodologies for qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Identify and review the literature on relevant subjects, determine the validity of different sources; analyze and synthesize ideas.
  • Produce research outputs that explain, in clear language, the conclusions of the research and that provide specific recommendations

Engagement

  • Engage with GRI management and different units to identify knowledge gaps, propose research projects, and agree on specific deliveries.
  • Represent GRI at external events; communicate key ideas about GRI´s work to strategic groups of stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage potential external partners to carry out research projects.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience or similar in working on projects involving research and analysis, preferably with a focus on environmental, social, and economic sustainability issues. Experience may have been acquired in either academic, corporate or public service environment(s).
  • Strong research skills; familiarity with socio-economic and financial databases and bibliographical research; ability to identify data sources and determine their validity.
  • Proficiency in using research tools, statistical software, and data visualization platforms.
  • Technical knowledge of reporting and standards processes, including experience with the design of performance indicators, is a plus.
  • Experience delivering presentations and facilitating workshops or training sessions.

Knowledge and abilities

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and fluency in one other language is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • You have strong analytical skills and expertise in qualitative research methods, quantitative research skills would be an advantage.
  • Results-focused and able to work independently, handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and work to precise timelines.
  • Existing professional home office setup, including a dedicated desk or workspace that is ergonomic and includes a comfortable and adjustable chair, adequate lighting, and reliable internet connection ensuring effective work from home.
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural setting.
  • Affinity with the mission of GRI.
