We are looking for someone who is has experience of advising and communicating about pension and employee benefits to join us at the House of Lords. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance our overall employee experience, from supporting new starters joining the Civil Service Pension Scheme to advising colleagues on retirement options.You’ll be joining our Employee Experience and Reward team as the Pension and Benefits Adviser in our HR office. In this exciting role you will work closely with colleagues, counterparts across Parliament and internal stakeholders to ensure our pension and benefits offering is compliant, attractive, and easy to understand.Your work will have meaningful impact, feeding into Our People Strategy aim to Attract and Retain the best people. This opportunity is hybrid with a mixture of working from home and on the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Parliamentary Estate.You’ll be accountable for –

  • Providing expert support to employees on the Civil Service Pension Schemes, helping them to understand their entitlements and options.
  • Providing training and guidance to HR Administrators and Advisers on pensions and benefits-related matters to ensure they can effectively support employees.
  • Developing and delivering clear, informative communication to employees regarding pension and benefits updates, changes, and workshops, commissioning and working with external experts as needed.
  • Coordinating with current and future pensions administrators for system integration, transition activities, and to resolve any administrative issues.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, including pensions administrators and service providers, to manage relationships and resolve issues.

  • HR Advice: – Experience administrating and advising managers and individual and employee benefits including pensions, and an enthusiasm for employee reward and pensions. An understanding of the Civil Service Pension Schemes or other public sector pension arrangements would be an advantage.
  • Communicating – Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly to diverse employees of all ages. This includes writing clear, accessible employee communications and presenting information in an engaging way, varying the message to suit the audience.
  • Tact and Discretion – Ability to advise colleagues tactfully and treat sensitive information respectfully, particularly with regard to financial and other personal information, retirement planning. Role modelling the House of Lords values and promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Collaborating and Partnering – Proven ability to build relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers, work collaboratively, and as an effective team member.
  • Managing a Quality Service – Commitment to providing a high-quality service that addresses the needs of both the organisation and its employees. This involves ensuring accuracy in pensions and benefits administration, managing contracts effectively, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Changing and Improving – Open to change, with the ability to identify areas for improvement in processes and services and implement innovative solutions. Experience of implementing new processes, systems and onboarding new suppliers would be an advantage.
