Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As an Associate in our Corporate Banking team, you will join RBC Capital Markets to assist members of the Toronto Corporate Banking Non-Bank Financial Institutions team in the origination, structuring, execution, administration, and portfolio management of revolving credit facilities, term loans and M&A related financings to a portfolio of RBC Capital Markets’ clients.What will you do?
- Assist in the structuring, delivery (from pitch preparation to deal close) and monitoring of syndicated and bilateral loan transactions
- As directed by the MD, Director or VP, assist in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients
- Preparation of credit submissions and other documentation related to the transaction approval process (including assistance related to loan syndications and pipeline management)
- Provide assistance in Corporate Banking coverage for identified clients, including identification of cross sell opportunities in all RBC CM active products and markets.
- Work in a team environment with Investment Banking, FICC and other partners
- Assistance with internal credit administration, including monitoring of the team’s loan portfolio performance and market/industry conditions as they affect this performance. This will involve working with Loan Portfolio Management, Credit and Transaction Management and Group Risk Management.
- Work with functional groups to ensure that wires, electronic payments, loan repayments, loan transaction closings, document collection, settlements and L/C issuance are managed in a timely manner and that , RBC’s internal Know Your Client requirements are being met.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:
- A degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other relevant fields
- Prior work experience in Corporate/Commercial Lending or Finance
- Solid financial, credit and accounting skills
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Good Presentation and client skills
- Solid analytical and technical skills
- Ability to work through loan agreements and other documentation
- Some knowledge of Capital Markets products
- Interest in financing, knowledge of major market players on the client side and an awareness of industry trends which are affecting broader market conditions
Nice-to-have:
- MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation
- Financial modeling experience
