This is a special measure employment equity initiative and candidates from this group who wish to qualify for preferential consideration must self-identify.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Associate, ESG Investing will work with the ESG Investing team and the Investment Team to continue the development and implementation of CPC’s Responsible Investment (RI) strategy. This role will have a focus on public markets, and the ideal candidate is familiar with the investment industry, such as portfolio management, investment dealers or brokers and public pension plans and knowledgeable with capital markets.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESBelow are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Associate, ESG Investing.1. Evaluates potential public markets investments and identifies and analyzes key areas of risks and opportunities on specific ESG factors; Support the analysis of funds, companies and transactions; Support public markets engagement activities, including proxy voting.2. Support the preparation of Investment Memos.3. Develops relationships with potential target fund managers and key intermediaries; Attends meetings with internal and external managers to evaluate and assess responses to questions to track record, strategy and lessons learned to identify potential investment opportunities; Supports the portfolio management of investments, including developing direct relationships with fund and co-investment management teams.4. Assists Portfolio managers in the development and maintenance of tools to ensure that ESG considerations are adequately integrated in the investment and monitoring activities of CPC’s public market investments.5. Builds and maintains internal databases, systems and models as well as streamline operational processes.6. Prepares the ESG Reports for each investment in the portfolio; Ensures the data accuracy and timeliness of ESG analysis across portfolios; Updates and manages ESG assessment criteria periodically. Reviews information memorandums and management presentations.7. Responsible for supporting the completion of the ESG Due Diligence Template for new investment opportunities alongside other team members.8. Attends and contributes to Pension Investment team and ESG Working Group meetings which involve discussing ESG industry updates, providing helpful ESG insights across asset classes.9. Responsible for handling daily administrative issues related to CPC’s RI strategy.10. Prepares portfolio company reviews and other internal reports. Performs administrative tasks such as filing, binder creation for new investments, other ad hoc administration, and reporting as required; Supports Pension Investment projects when and as required.QUALIFICATIONSEducation

• Completion of post-secondary (College/University) degree

Experience

• 1-3 years experience in a similar role

Other Candidate Requirements

• General understanding of asset management and financial markets

• Demonstrated interest in ESG investing

• Prior experience conducting ESG analysis at a pension fund or asset manager is highly desirable

• Proficient computer skills and strong competency with Microsoft Office programs, and experience with Python and/or Excel macros

• Strong organizational, prioritization and time-management skills

• Good interpersonal skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
