Description:Based at the Task Force for Global Health in Decatur, GA, and affiliated with Emory University, the Neglected Tropical Diseases Support Center (NTD-SC) aims to optimize operational research and surveillance to eliminate neglected tropical diseases which threaten the lives and well-being of millions of people in some of the world’s most marginalized communities. This work, conducted in close coordination with partners, addresses challenges facing each phase of the programs targeting the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): effectively scaling up to reach those at risk, successfully scaling down when their goals are reached, and finally sustaining the reductions achieved in disease prevalence. The NTD-SC hosts the secretariat for the Coalition for Operational Research on NTDs (COR-NTD), a global partnership focused on supporting this research agenda. The NTD-SC is actively pursuing an expanding portfolio focused on providing important services and support to the NTD community.The Knowledge Management Program Associate (NGO) primary duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a global program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input.JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Primary duty is organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a global program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input.
- Monitors and reports progress of objectives and goals of the program. Develops promotional materials/venues, manages relational databases, and establishes/forecasts budget requirements.
- Develops work plans to accomplish objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
- Monitors expenditures and may prepare financial reports; may assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
- Prepares operational and statistical reports to assist in effective decision-making.
- Conducts training, represents the program at international meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.
- May write or develop reports, speeches, briefings, newsletters, promotional materials, grants or other written materials related to the program. Conducts research and gathers accurate information to develop various publications.
- May plan, administer, or monitor the program’s budget or related grants. May assist in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
- May supervise staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
- This is not an administrative support position.
Contribute to development, maintenance, and management of knowledge products and associated systems (50%):
- Contribute to development and update of knowledge products relevant to the NTD Data Analytics Center and the NTD Information System (e.g., job aids, process checklists, user manuals, etc.)
- Support development, revision, and maintenance of training materials (e.g., slides, documents, videos, etc.)
- Manage a Confluence Knowledge Library and all associated documentation
- Take and distribute meeting notes
- Contribute to a culture of learning by supporting and participating in internal and external learning events, identifying knowledge management opportunities and needs, etc.
Manage NTD Data Analytics Center document storage system and other business systems (25%):
- Manage NTD Data Analytics Center Google Drives, including creation and maintenance of folder structure, access permissions, settings, etc.
Maintain communication list serves (Google Groups) and Google calendarDevelop, review, and update French translations of NTD Information System documentation (25%):
- Translate technical materials from English into French, with input and support from technical experts
- Provide support to enable external translation of materials when required
- Manage and update French versions of NTD Information System reference materials
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate fully as a member of The Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting, and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management.
TRAVEL:
- Up to 10% domestic and international
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional-level proficiency in both English and French (reading, writing, speaking)
- High degree of familiarity and skill in use of Google Drive, Google Groups, Google Calendar, and Confluence, or ability to learn quickly
- Experience developing and maintaining knowledge products and knowledge management repositories
- Demonstrated interest in global health or international development
- Experience using DHIS2 desirable, but not required
- Strong desire and ability to foster an environment of inclusion, equity, belonging, and respect for diversity
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
