OverviewAs a Strategy Analyst within the Office of Strategy Management, you’ll work under the direction of the Manager of the Office of Strategy Management and will be responsible for leading, planning and coordinating enterprise and departmental strategic business planning project activities for the entire department.You will apply your knowledge of strategic business planning as well as knowledge of data analysis to develop supporting strategic documents, conduct analysis, and identify and document risks and issues. Working closely with departmental managers, peers, senior organizational leaders and consultants, you will provide input and develop complex business and strategic planning documents to support the timely delivery of strategic initiatives.How you’ll make a difference: You’ll guide the strategies that ensure we best serve B.C.’s workers and employers.Where you’ll workAt WorkSafeBC, we offer a model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.In this role, you’ll work primarily from our Richmond office, with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.What you’ll do

  • Develop, implement, and lead project management plans, while assessing and incorporating business change management and communication needs to impacted stakeholders
  • Work closely with departmental team and senior leaders conduct strategic analysis using various strategy tools or techniques such as benchmarking and market analysis
  • Engage with key stakeholders to provide support on strategic business planning initiatives, research and participate in the planning and formulation of strategic plans.
  • Support the creation of strategic planning documents such as annual reports and presentation for review by departmental managers, senior management, enterprise leadership team (ELT) and/or Board of Directors (BOD)
  • Conduct a variety of research and information gathering, interpreting data, formulating conclusions, and evaluating various sources while creating viable strategies dependent on findings
  • Support the strategic framework, tools, and tracking programs to ensure strategic programs and initiatives are up-to-date and to identify, manage, and mitigate risks
  • Provide support on strategic planning projects, including project tracking and monitoring, creating proposals and analysis/assessment of project viability, conducting business case feasibility analysis and impact assessments for initiatives, creating proposals, writing recommendations and analysis/assessment of project viability
  • Support and participate in the formulating of departmental plans and implementing plan initiatives
  • Work with internal management teams to develop business performance measures and key performance indicators to promote and monitor ongoing efficiency improvements

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in creating high-quality presentations to senior management and stakeholders on critical issues, priorities, and initiatives
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of organizational business processes, information systems applications and their interdependencies
  • Utilize strong project management skills to manage or provide work direction on multiple projects to project team staff and consultants in terms of leading, scheduling, and monitoring project activities
  • Exhibit being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with various variables including constant change and tight timeframes

Your background and experience

  • A degree in business administration, public administration, accounting or equivalent discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience such as management consulting, business analysis, strategic planning, change management, or project management
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
  • Proven analytical and root cause analysis capabilities
