We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.NHS Lothian pharmacy clinical trials team supports the delivery of approximately 200 clinical trials across its sites. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician to develop their career in the rapidly evolving pharmacy clinical trials service in NHS Lothian. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and proactive pharmacy technician to join our pharmacy clinical trials team delivering a broad research portfolio within in a wide variety of clinical indications. Working closely with the wider pharmacy service and the research multi-disciplinary team, the successful applicant will support the delivery of clinical trials and contribute towards the development of the service at Western General site.Candidates should demonstrate an interest in research with a good working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services. They must be reliable, have good communication and organisational skills and the ability to deliver a service, whilst also working to deadlines. They must be able to work independently as well as being able to work effectively as part of a team. Main duties will include supporting the wider research team to increase the trials portfolio on the site, have oversight and supervision of drug accountability log completion to guarantee compliance with regulations, have responsibility for trial stock levels to ensure clinical trial delivery, support clinical trial set up by preparing and approving in-house documentation, perform final accuracy checking of dispensed trial prescriptions for oral medications.Candidates must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), have a Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technician (PDCT) National Qualification or equivalent and HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent qualification/experience will be considered. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
