Job Description:The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. We play a key role in the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed across the country as part of Operation Temperer in response to terrorist attacks.The Policing Skills Trainer position is based at Griffin Park Tactical Training Centre, which is the biggest and most technologically advanced firearms training facility in Europe. Opened in 2020, this new facility provides a multi-faceted training experience that uniquely mirrors the operational environments our AFOs work in on a daily basis. This excellence is matched by our diverse team of NFIs who are trusted to utilise the wide breadth of training options the facility offers to make CNC AFOs the best in class.Griffin Park is on the doorstep of the beautiful and sprawling Lake District National Park. Granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 2019, the Lake District now rightfully sits alongside other wonders such as the Grand Canyon, Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal so when you aren’t on duty you are able to take the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of outdoor pursuits such as Mountain Biking, Climbing, Hiking, Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Open Water Swimming or simply enjoy a wonderful stroll across the fells or down the lesser known but ruggedly beautiful west Cumbrian coastline. Many of these activities are organised by our community of NFIs and support staff who regularly venture into the wilds and enjoy what the Lake District and Cumbria as a county has to offer.As a Policing Skills Trainer, you will provide commitment and expertise as a facilitator whose purpose is to design, develop and deliver; professional, competent learning and development programmes, conduct robust assessment of relevant ‘end to end’ learning solutions, enabling the organisation to achieve its goals and individuals to fulfil their potential.Responsibilities
- Use an evidence-based approach to identify learning needs and specify learning outcomes to inform the design and development of training.
- Design and develop learning programmes and sessions, identifying and incorporating training and learning methodologies that are capable of meeting individual and organisational learning needs with available resources and specified timescales.
- Deliver training using a wide range of learning methodologies ensuring learners are managed, motivated, facilitated, coached and supported to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
- Foster and maintain a safe, inclusive and effective learning environment to enable learner’s engagement and participation.
- Support development of training packages to deliver progressive EDI activities linked to our strategic ambition. Working across the Constabulary to deliver training related to EDI, promoting our equality networks, liaising with trainers and engaging Police Staff and Officers.
- Coordinating and delivering Corporate training and EDI education to embed excellent EDI practice.
- Utilise assessment analysis and stakeholder feedback to inform the development and continuous improvement of training and interventions and overall learning experience within the organisation.
- Identify opportunities for and support the exploration of innovations and best practises in L&D, incorporating these into training approaches to improve the quality of L&D interventions and to support the enhancement of L&D practice across the organisation.
- Responsible for providing expertise and support to the design, development and, delivery of learning solutions.
- Manage an effective approach to working with stakeholders promoting the production of a portfolio of products and services, ensuring effective planning and high standards in service delivery.
- Ensure your own professional qualifications, competence and, practice meets appropriate professional standards in the delivery of learning and development programmes.
- Work in direct support to advise and guide the design and development as well as the implementation of solutions, offering relevant information to confirm and maintain interventions as remaining ‘fit for purpose’.
- Research and develop own subject matter knowledge to ensure the development of, ethical, evidence-based police learning is at the forefront of the CNC.

- Knowledge of Microsoft packages: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Email.
- Numerically and grammatically accurate.
- Applies learning needs analysis, the Kirkpatrick Model and quality assurance processes.
- Creation of ‘end to end’ training interventions (both face to face and through e-learning).
- Thrives in a fast paced, results-oriented environment requiring a high degree of flexibility whilst retaining high levels of organisational discipline.
- Previous experience of designing and delivering training across multiple subjects of learning.
- Previous police industry experience or similar industries.
- Previous experience in delivering EDI training or training which incorporates EDI.
- Previous experience of managing classroom and practical learning situations.
- Experience of managing and implementing health, safety and welfare requirements.
