Requisition ID: 205873Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.As a Senior Manager, Contracts and Derivatives clearing & Pricing & book cost & Data control, you will be responsible for Contributing to the overall success of the Contracts and Derivatives clearing and Data control in Canada / Toronto ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are incompliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This is a multi-dimensional role, with a broad focus on Global Wealth Management operations. Manage the daily operation of the Contracts & Derivatives Clearing departments for Scotia Capital Inc. including Institutional, ScotiaMcLeod, Itrade, Prime Brokerages, Global Equity Derivatives, Scotia Trust. A key priority will be monitoring and ensuring that the data integrity of security prices, book cost, fees and annual performance measurements are accurate in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. This role will be expected to contribute towards the effective maintenance of business controls to operationalize the high quality of market information required for client accounts. The role also requires analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft tools. The person must possess excellent communication skills as the role involves interaction with advisors and senior leaders within the business lines.Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Ensure efficient measures are in place to control the risk associated with the daily balancing of all exchange clearing accounts for the firm; (Canadian stock exchange, US stock exchanges as well as Option derivatives clearing organizations such as CDCC and OCC)
  • Ensure all Canada and US stock exchange & Options derivatives exchange positions and settlement amounts are reconciled to the clearing corporation and any deliveries are processed on a timely manner according to industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the request for trade corrections, take market action in a timely manner to reduce loss, and process corrections to client account on Charles River or AOM so accounts reflect accurately for clients and advisors. (This is extremely high risk can cause large market exposure)
  • Lead the team that specializes in pricing, book cost and data control
  • Critically evaluate and help identify areas of control weakness and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with leaders across Wealth Management Operations, and Business lines to provide strong support to the business.
  • Ensure regulatory and corporate policies and established procedures applicable to the unit(s) are fully adhered to
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

The Must Haves:

  • Knowledge of Broadridge systems (HOD, OnDemand, CDS, Webpost, CDCC, OCC, Charles River, PureFact reporting)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Ability to provide reliable and timely responses professionally to direct inquiries
  • Knowledge of Brokerage industry, particularly related to trade processing, balancing and security codes.
  • Strong communication and Organizational skills
  • Business degree or equivalent investment industry experience with specific exposure to Stock exchange and Options & Trade Processing.
  • 7 + years management experience

  • Effective decision-making ability required to oversee the daily functioning of the Contract and Derivative clearing department.
  • A subject matter expertise in investment industry regulations as they pertain to equity trade processing and options/futures clearing. Complete understanding of the trade reporting systems of the Canadian Exchanges, US Exchange, Charles River, ION, CDS, NSCC, DTC, CDCC, OCC, OAES, and the ADP Brokerage Accounting System (especially pertaining to trade processing);
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving, and creative thinking skills required to be able to react and resolve problem situations with minimum risk exposure to the firm.
  • The ability to work under pressure to achieve required service levels with available resources.
  • Strong time management skills required to excel in managing a high-volume multi-task environment.
