The chemotherapy and haematology suites offer outpatient chemotherapy and supportive treatments to patients from across the region, treating approximately 10,000 patient’s each year. The chemotherapy suite and haematology suites have 18 chairs in total and there is a private area with a couch for small procedures such as ECGs and injections and venesection. There was also a Mobile Cancer Care Unit that was officially launched in May 2014. The Mobile Cancer Care Unit has 4 chairs and administers treatments at various locations in the county and the successful candidate will have opportunities the work on the mobile unit.We prominently work Monday to Friday 8AM until 6PM and times can be negotiable.We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wishes to increase their knowledge of oncological and haematological conditions and treatments surrounding this.Main duties of the jobCandidates will be1st level registered nurses with an interest in caring for patients with haematology and oncology conditions.The ideal candidate will be competent in the expanded practice roles of IV administration (although training will be given) and be willing to undertake further expanded practice roles as required, including the UKONs SACT passport chemotherapy pack, CVAD training, cannulation and venepuncture. Support will be given to the candidate to successfully complete these skills.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and have a flexible approach to work. They will be motivated and enthusiastic and also possess good written and verbal communication skills.   • Evidence of further education e.g. ENB 237, degree
  • Teaching certificate

ExperienceEssential

  • Experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting.
  • Committed to ongoing personal development

Desirable

  • Recent experience as a registered nurse in haematology and/or oncology

Knowledge, Skills, AptitudesEssential

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate good leadership skills.
  • Awareness of the dignity in care agenda
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework

Desirable

  • Evidence of extended roles eg Iv administration/cannulation
  • Experience of managing central lines
  • Ability to administer chemotherapy
