Find your future with us.Boeing Global Services (BGS) Government Training Engineering (GTE) is seeking a Senior Real-Time Software Engineer / Architect to join their P-8 Poseidon – Training Systems – Vehicle Simulation team in Hazelwood, MO. If so, the P8 Training System Software team has an opportunity for you.The P-8 Poseidon is the maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft of the future built on a commercial derivative airframe and outfitted to protect the waterways of the world. It performs a variety of missions, including anti-surface/submarine warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The P-8 Training Systems team is responsible for designing, developing, building, and delivering numerous training solutions to the warfighters, both pilots and crew, operating this aircraft. The simulators developed are not off the shelf video games but rather high fidelity, tech heavy, fully immersive training machines that allow the warfighters to maintain their training and readiness for missions around the world.Software is an integral part of each of these simulator products and these products are integral parts of the defense of multiple nations. If you come to work with us, you will be responsible for full life-cycle software development which means you will have a hand in defining the software requirements; designing, implementing, and testing the software; and supporting these products through delivery and service use in the field.The selected applicant will be a member of a high performing, collaborative team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, excellent time-management, a continuous learning mindset, and interpersonal skills to work across integrated teams. These teams use Agile methodologies to support all aspects of product development, including project management.The applicant will be encouraged to actively help the team to continuously improve and develop innovative and creative solutions related to both products and processes.Position Responsibilities:Provide software requirements, design, implementation, test, and maintenance guidance to a team of software engineers working across multiple delivery streamsDevelop and oversee implementation of technical roadmap for maturing product capability while maintaining support for existing deployed hardware and software baselines within the constraints of government program requirementsProvide mentorship and support development of less experienced engineers to build a robust and knowledgeable teamSupport software engineering proposal activities for both current and emerging potential customersSupport Technical Design Review (TDR) and other peer review activities for other software engineers and adjacent systems engineering activitiesParticipate in test, troubleshooting, and release selloff activities as needed to ensure timely software deliveriesServe as a subject matter expert on one or more aspects of the P-8 Training System Vehicle software productsThis position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Coding Challenge:To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science5+ years developing real-time or near real-time, multi-threaded C++ software on a Linux platform5+ years of object-oriented software design and development experience using industry standard design patterns, practices, and coding standards5+ years of software performance analysis and troubleshooting, including memory and network stack debugging3+ years of experience with unit testing frameworks and implementing unit tests1+ years of leading, teaching, and/or mentoring others in software engineering tasksPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years of experience making and maintaining build system configurations (CMAKE, Make, Ant, etc.)Experience implementing simulations utilizing published simulation standards (DIS, HLA, NIS, NASMP)Experience capturing and sharing knowledge with a team at varied experience level (intern to other architects)Experience with one or more task tracking (Jira, VersionOne) and configuration management (Gitlab, Subversion) systemsExperience implementing one or more modern software architecture concepts (MOSA, OMS, Open Architecture, etc.)Typical Education & Experience:Senior (4)Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experienceSenior / Lead (5)Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experienceRelocation:
