Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) is seeking a Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) Marketing Specialist located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is a 12-month position with an intended start date of November 4, 2024. The R3 Specialist will work with the R3 Coordinator to support the recruitment and retention of community-based social marketing campaigns. This includes the development of email and social media content and support of education programs such as Becoming an Outdoors-Woman and the National Archery in Schools Program. The R3 Marketing Specialist will work with the R3 Coordinator to develop an R3 strategic plan. This position will support programs at Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp and will be expected to spend 5-6 weeks at the camp during the summer. The R3 Specialist will report to the R3 Coordinator.Human Resource Contact: Alice Saldana / [email protected]ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Assist with the development of R3 social media and email marketing content.
  • Assist in the development of activities and events, including the recruitment, retention, and reactivation of hunters and anglers.
  • Support NGO partners in developing and executing WY Hunt Fish programs.
  • Support the planning and execution of Wyoming Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, Beyond B.O.W., and Wyoming Collegiate Conservation Symposium at Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp.
  • Assist instruction at hunter education courses, mentored hunting experiences, field days, and other outdoor education programs.
  • Maintain National Archery in the School Program Basic Archery Instructor certification and Wilderness First Responder certification.
  • R3 data analysis & report preparation.
  • Assist participants with application and registration processes.

QualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference may be given to those with a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, human dimensions, outdoor recreation, tourism, wildlife management, or other related field.Preference may be given to those with experience teaching fishing, archery, firearms, navigation, backcountry hikes, and team builders.**Must have a valid driver’s license.KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop compelling digital content.
  • Knowledge of hunting and fishing techniques.
  • Must have the ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions and be comfortable pulling trailers and operating 4WD vehicles.
  • Ability to maintain composure and delegate during continuously changing work conditions.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, enthusiasm, flexibility and a passion for working with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:None – See “Preferences”Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires a flexible schedule, including travel and long days, working evenings and weekends.
  • The position requires Wilderness First Responder certification & background checks (provided by WGFD).
  • The position requires statewide travel, including up to 10 weeks throughout the year.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • This is an At-Will Employee Contract (AWEC) position
  • Uniforms will be provided when in the field.
  • Department housing is not provided except while traveling statewide or at the Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp.
