Role: SEMH Secondary TeacherLocation: TorbayContract: Ad-hoc basisSalary: Starting at £110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)Long-Term Teachers is working on behalf of a brilliant secondary special school that is looking for a dedicated and passionate teacher to provide essential support. This role involves leading classes with pre-planned cover when the teacher is absent. You may be called upon on short notice to provide essential cover to facilitate student’s learning and development.About the school:The school provides high quality education and support for students aged 11-16 that have a range of additional needs, but are primarily focused around their social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Their students have not had their needs met in mainstream education so the role that you will play is essential in supporting their academic and personal growth.About you:The school requires someone who is fully invested in and shares their vision of making a real difference in the lives of their students. Due to the nature of the students, it is vital that you feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and are adaptable.

  • Secondary school based experience is preferred
  • SEMH experience is essential
  • Full time availability (Monday – Friday)
  • Patience, resilience, enthusiasm and flexibility
  • Confident in leading classes and managing challenging behaviour
  • Able to drive and have access to your own car

About the role:

  • Deliver personalised lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with additional needs, often following pre-planned lessons
  • Create a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment that encourages learning and development
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of professional, including teaching assistants and specialists, to support the students’ educational and emotional needs
