SEN English TeacherLocation: Cranborne, DorsetSalary: £25,320 – £39,267.20 (M1-UPS3) actual annual salary (starting 1st September 2024)Hours: Part-time, 32 hours per week, 4 days a week. Flexibility on working days (Monday-Friday).In Cranborne, an educational establishment is seeking an English Teacher to inspire and support students aged 11-16. This role involves providing high-quality teaching to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, including Autism and related conditions. The environment leverages its scenic location to create engaging and enriching learning experiences.The English Teacher will be responsible for delivering effective teaching to students with varying needs, focusing on enhancing their academic and vocational qualifications and independent living skills. The role also includes teaching a second subject.Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the curriculum, catering to the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term lesson plans.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalized learning targets.
  • Contribute to the review process for Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Maintain structured, engaging, and challenging lessons.
  • Assist in curriculum development and stay informed about current issues in the field of autism.
  • Manage a delegated budget as necessary.
  • Adapt to various duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Essential: PGCE, QTS, or QTLS teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
  • Ability to teach Entry Level 2 & 3, Functional Skills Level 1 & 2, and GCSEs in English and another subject.
  • Desirable: Experience in a school environment, particularly in specialist education.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proficient in planning, preparation, and monitoring student progress.
  • Good IT skills and an understanding of how IT supports learning.
  • Ability to stay calm and reflective in challenging environments.
  • Proven initiative, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to foster positive, enabling relationships with students.
