This graduate role will support the development and rollout of Data Science and AI implementations across the Defined Benefit (DB) solutions business at Just. You will be actively exploring, developing and deploying models and solutions into a growing technical architecture within the business.The role is expected to be very hands on, and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing new skills in data science and systems development in the financial services sector.The role will also focus on supporting the development of the DB software strategic vision. This will involve supporting the existing development team, comprised of data scientists, data engineers and software developers.
This role will directly support the rapid growth of the DB business, as we implement new technologies to enable our scale-up. Good data practice and the ability to derive new insights from data, form a fundamental pillar of this growth and you will be directly involved in transformation in that space.About you…You will have a good degree in an appropriate subject, such as computer science and an enthusiasm for data and/or computer science.Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong numeracy skills
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly analytical mindset with problem solving attitude
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Julia or Python
  • An aptitude for progamming

ExperienceNo prior work experience is required as this is an entry level role for recent graduates. However, any knowledge of finance would be useful, but not essential.In this role you will help:
Support the development of machine learning and AI models and analytics pipelines for the DB business, aligning to organisational data and AI strategies.
Support development of robust integrations of Machine Learning and AI models into the day-to-day running of the DB business.Support the development of high-quality bespoke calculation engines, using industry-standard tools, technologies and languages. Aligned to the organisational target architecture.Support the design of data storage solutions that align to the end user requirements, bridging the end user/developer gap.Support any transitional arrangements as we move data and processes from the legacy platform into the new platform.Ensure all work is carried out in line with best practice guidelines as directed by those responsible. This will include ways of working, testing and documentation.Ensure all development is in line with the corporate change control policies ensuring the appropriate governance and control is applied at all times. Ensuring compliance with group policy.Examples of Key Activities

  • As a member of a development team you will work closely with your own team members and others within DB to help support the development of our strategic systems.
  • Supporting the development of high-quality reporting of data exploration/proof of concept work
  • Working under the direction to deliver proof of concept ideas, and supporting the ultimately delivery into a production environment
  • Bring accepted proof of concept work into deployment following existing standards and best-practice
  • Develop appropriate high-quality documentation for all solutions developed
  • Adhere to best-practices around project management and delivery and collaborate with other data science functions in Just
  • Support the completion of dashboards to demonstrate process compliance and process outputs
  • Support the business in the transition of existing data and processes from the legacy platform into the new platform and associated processes
