DescriptionCancer Screening Quality Improvement Consultant for Colorectal Cancer (HSC3) DOH8328This is a home-based, full-time, permanent Health Services Consultant 3 position.What You Will Do: As the Cancer Screening Quality Improvement Consultant for Colorectal Cancer, you will support the Breast, Cervical, and Colon Health Program (BCCHP) by working with local providers and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) to improve cancer screening services for communities underserved by the healthcare system. This role focuses on increasing colorectal cancer screening rates, using evidence-based practices to reduce cancer-related mortality and morbidity, while promoting the Department of Health’s mission to protect and improve public health in Washington State.Reporting to the BCCHP Manager, you will build and manage relationships with program partners and technical experts to drive health equity and quality improvement in colorectal cancer screening.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiatives: Implement the federal “Organized Approaches to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening” program in partnership with FQHCs, Washington’s Primary Care Association, and regional contractors.
  • Collaborate with Partners: Work with BCCHP staff, healthcare partners, and grantees to share best practices and lessons learned in colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screening programs. Facilitate in-person and remote learning sessions to promote program improvement.
  • Co-lead Grant Funding Activities: Lead the preparation of grant applications and progress reports, ensuring compliance with federal grant guidelines.
  • Develop and Evaluate Educational Materials: Create culturally and linguistically appropriate educational materials to support primary care clinics in improving cancer screening services.
  • Coordinate Statewide and Regional Stakeholder Engagement:

Convene and participate in stakeholder groups to drive quality improvement in cancer screening practices, fostering collaboration and shared outcomes among program partners. * Manage Contracts and Grant-Funded Activities: Manage contracts with healthcare providers and contractors, including overseeing project budgets.

  • Represent BCCHP at National and State Events: Attend the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable and Washington State Colorectal Cancer Task Force meetings, sharing insights and seeking opportunities for program enhancements.

Location and Flexibility: We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. Working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This position is required to attend conferences, meetings, or other relevant events in person, and these would also be scheduled in advance. This is a home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.Required QualificationsExperience defined below may have been gained concurrently and through paid or unpaid activities.   • Option 1: Six (6) or more years’ experience of contract or grant management and consultative experience in health services, public health, hospital administration or allied field.

OR

  • Option 2: Bachelor’s degree in public health, Health Care Administration, Public Policy, Public/Business Administration, or closely allied field; AND three (3) or more years’ experience of contract or grant management and consultative experience in health services, public health, hospital administration or allied field.

AND (applies to both options)

  • Demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Working with external partners.
  • Technical writing, such as reports and grant applications.
  • Facilitating and/or coordinating committees, workgroups, or task forces.
  • Understanding of principles of health equity and how they can be applied in the public health context.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, health administration, social work, or other health field.
  • Experience working in partnership with chronic disease prevention programs and/or primary care quality improvement initiatives.
