Royal Victoria Reginal Health Centre (RVH) serves the community of Simcoe County and provides highly specialized services including but not limited to: Stroke, Cardiac, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Adult & Youth Mental Health, and has been recently designated as a Level III Trauma Centre. We also serve our local community for emergency care services that sees approximately 90,000 unique patient visits per year.RVH is undergoing significant growth, including a capital plan that will see the current North Campus on Georgian Drive double in size over the next ten years, while developing the new South Campus in Innisfil. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will function interdependently and collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team, that includes but not limited to: Physicians, Registered Practical Nurses, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Geriatric Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Phlebotomists. As the RN you assess the needs of adult and pediatric patients requiring care in the Emergency Department, while ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. You are a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of RVH, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and all relevant legislation.As a qualified candidate you will need have the following job requirements:

  • Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario and function within limitations and standards as established by the College of Nurses.
  • Coronary Care Level 1 preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in Arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Current BCLS. • ACLS course preferred.
  • TNCC course preferred.
  • PALS or ENPC course preferred.
  • Completion of ENCC or Emergency nursing certificate is considered an asset .
  • Participation in RNAO/ ENAO/ ENA preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in emergency or acute medical/surgical nursing preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and other.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service.

  • Uses the Emergency Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate Emergency patients.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties of position description, which may include the ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping.
  • Function within the Health and Safety guidelines providing safe and supportive environment for all patients, staff, physicians and volunteers.
