Together, we can shape a prosperous planet where no one is left behind.We are seeking a Legal Projects Manager to join the TrustLaw team in London to drive and deliver the legal and programmatic activities for key donor-funded projects and serve as the point person and lead for TrustLaw on these projects.You will report into the Senior Legal Programmes Advisor (based in Nairobi) and work closely with TrustLaw team members and other departments across TRF globally.Please note, this is a 12-month fixed term contract until November 2025.About the RoleAs a Legal Projects Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:

  • Manage and drive the delivery of legal activities on donor-funded projects, including setting out project plans for delivery of legal activities and ensuring work is done on time, within budget, to the agreed scope and to a high quality.
  • Reporting internally and externally on progress, including to donors.
  • Working closely with members of the project team across TRF and inputting into project-wide work plans, results frameworks, etc.
  • Serving as the TrustLaw point person on the project, ensuring the project aligns with TrustLaw’s and TRF’s processes, approach and priorities.
  • Deliver key activities and work products, including managing the development and dissemination of legal resources (e.g., training materials, guides, etc.), delivering and coordinating delivery of training, workshops, and other capacity building activities for CSOs, media houses and journalists, in partnership with the Programmes team
  • Managing legal requests (pro bono or paid ones), including scoping and drafting legal requests from project beneficiaries and connecting clients with lawyers
  • Support other projects and tasks as needed.

About YouTo be our Legal Projects Manager, you will likely:

  • Be an experienced lawyer (5+ years) with strong legal skills and experience with international development, pro bono or social change. Experience working in a law firm, NGO, media house or in-house is a plus.
  • Have experience of project management or coordination from inception phase to reporting, ideally on donor-funded projects.
  • Have experience designing and delivering trainings, workshops and events on legal topics.
  • Have demonstrated understanding of at least one of the following themes: media freedom, responsible business or human rights.
  • Have excellent research, drafting and analytical skills, including experience both developing and reviewing legal outputs and resources.
  • Have experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, CSOs, donors, media houses and journalists to senior corporate executives and partners of top law firms.
  • Be a strong team player with experience managing and supporting a team to achieve results.
  • Have strong organisational abilities, experience using databases and an ability to support a team to use systems and processes.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage multiple priorities at once, with a high degree of creative and flexible thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
