Our team is comprised of experienced real estate professionals with offices located in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton Toronto, Ottawa, London, Hamilton and Montreal. We apply industry expertise to offer full-service financial solutions to real estate companies and users across Canada.Through working closely with Relationship Managers within CIBC’s Real Estate Finance Division, the successful candidate will gain experience in both real estate interim and term lending and the management of key client relationships. The Co-Op Associate will provide a broad range of analytical and research support to a team who is dedicated to helping the Associate achieve their professional
goals. The incumbent will be involved with a variety of projects to expose them to various aspects of loan underwriting, credit analysis, and portfolio management.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 3 days per week on-site and one Friday per month, while other days will be remote.How You’ll Succeed

  • Research & Analysis – Responsible for conducting in-depth company, industry, and portfolio analysis. Assist in performing risk assessments for existing and new credit arrangements through completing the following:

Financial statement analysisSensitivity and scenario analysisValuation of different asset classes (ex. office, retail, residential, industrial, etc.)Reviewing third party reports (ex. environmental reports, appraisals, etc.)

  • Collaboration – Making informal and formal presentations to senior management to discuss deal structuring as a part of the deal team. Collaborating with internal risk partners to analyze key risks and mitigation strategies in existing and new credits.
  • Client Service – Fulfill day-to-day requests of a portfolio of clients alongside the Relationship Manager. Proactively assess clients’ needs, propose solutions, and execute as instructed by the client. Play a key role in the preparation of client proposals and information memoranda. Attend client events, meetings, and site visits to further develop key client relationships.
  • Business Development Support – Play an integral role in the end-to-end processing of a loan (i.e. from structuring to funding). Collaborate with various teams and departments to fulfill day-to-day tasks such as loan processing, opening of deposit accounts including signing authorities, non/negotiable securities, and the review of cash management arrangements.
