The Accounting Manager will assist in overseeing the organization’s finances and business operations as a member of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. Daily duties in this role include overseeing financial operations, budgeting, reporting, banking, and support for audits.   • Assist the CEO with budget creation, financial reporting, and annual audit preparation.
  • Assist the CEO and the outside bookkeeper with credit card and bank reconciliation, tracking and collecting receivables and payables, and processing pre-approved expense reports that are filed by employees, board members, and contract workers.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of internal financial controls.
  • Ensures organizational excellence, financial and administrative policies are reviewed and updated.
  • Oversees the process to guarantee accurate and timely billing and invoicing, as well as timely account collection.
  • Oversees the procedure to guarantee that accounts payable are finished on time and accurately.
  • Works in tandem with the CEO and the Board of Directors to develop and present data and metrics that track the Strategic Plan’s effectiveness and improve organizational decision-making.
  • Oversees the collaboration with contracted bookkeeping services, making sure that crucial tasks are finished on schedule and correctly.
  • Prepares business-related documents and reports for committees and the board of directors.
  • Oversees reporting and donor funding via the BC Sport Trust Fund
  • Helps the CEO develop initiatives and events to involve and retain contributors and boost donations to charitable organizations
  • Helps the CEO develop projects and campaigns that draw funding from businesses Creates and keeps a database of important prospects and donors.
  • Assists the CEO in overseeing connections with corporate sponsors and making sure all sponsorship servicing needs are met.

Qualifications

  • Must have maintenance management expertise, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar field. Senior-level course completion in an accounting program is an asset.
  • A track record of effectively overseeing general ledger, budget management, and financial reporting functions in accounting.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in Microsoft Office
  • Proven expertise doing administrative duties and utilizing the organization’s database
  • Proven expertise in using Quickbooks (or a similar program) for bookkeeping and collaborating with other service providers
  • Outstanding interpersonal, dialogue, and presentation abilities
  • The capacity for meeting deadlines, setting priorities, and paying attention to detail
  • Strong IT abilities and flexibility with new platforms and systems
  • Knowledge of the implementation and oversight of internal controls, as well as the financial audit process
  • Fulfill a Criminal Records Check •
  • Work hours are flexible, allowing for occasional evenings and weekends for events and volunteer availability
