Result of service will be: evaluation and recommendation of stakeholder organizations for events supported by NGLS; review and processing of all registrants for events supported by NGLS; ongoing, clear and concise communication with clients; data reporting on applications received and pre-identified categories within each event and across events; daily reporting on status of work, identifying obstacles, providing feedback on applications reviewed. Efficiently uses resources and is a team player.Work LocationThe 2 IC posts are designed to be full-time and in-person in New YorkExpected durationThese positions are for 3 months starting 1 October 2024Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese positions are located within the team that manages the Civil Society Unit in the NGO Relations, Advocacy and Special Events Section, Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications. Through a number of programmes, the Civil Society Unit collaborates with CSOs whose missions’ line up with those of the United Nations. The unit’s Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) is in charge of organizing calls for participation from civil society organizations (without having ECOSOC status) that are knowledgeable in the particular, substantive subjects of UN conferences, meetings, and events. Two independent contractor’s positions are available under this TOR for a period of three months, under the supervision of the Programme Manager of NGLS. •Assists in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation work for, typically, civil society, private sector and other relevant stakeholders in accreditation processes to engage meaningfully in UN High-level meetings and conferences. monitors status of programme/project proposals and receipt of relevant documentation for review and approval. •Collects and reviews data and supporting documentation associated with applications from stakeholders to participate in events supported by NGLS. Corresponds with clients regarding applications and supporting materials. · •Compiles, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific programmes/projects related to stakeholder engagement in UN meetings and related topics or issues. · •Reviews project documents, especially cost plans/budgets, for completeness and compliance with relevant rules and procedures prior to submission for final approval and signature; identifies inconsistencies; distributes project documents to relevant parties upon approval. · •Compiles, summarizes and enters data on project delivery; drafts sub-pages of NGLS Annual Report and related status reports, identifying opportunities, shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., and brings to the attention of management. •Drafts correspondence and prepares and updates periodic reports, briefing notes, graphic and statistical summaries, accounting spreadsheets, etc. •Identifies and prepares new material for inclusion in appropriate web pages and NGO database by: researching various information sources for relevant material and cross-checking information with author offices as required •Assists in organizing the DGC Civil Society Unit Special Events and providing social media support •Other duties as requiredQualifications/special skillsA recognized, 1st level degree is required. Experience working with Civil Society Experience with data collection and analysis Experience working with clients Experience with MS Office 365LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
