This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Sanctions Manager Advisory.This is a senior role in the HSBC UK Sanctions team reporting to the Head of Sanctions, HSBC UK and supporting in the delivery of sanctions risk stewardship and advice across the HSBC UK Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB) and Commercial Banking (CMB) business. The role purpose is to provide risk stewardship oversight and advice in relation the sanctions control framework for HSBC UK.As Senior Sanctions Manager Advisory, your will be a subject matter expert on sanctions risk management and compliance with sanctions regimes imposed by the UK, European Union (EU), United Nations (UN) and USA, and HSBC Group Financial Crime Policy.You will advise on and provide risk management recommendations in relation to customers and transactions with a sanction’s nexus, support Compliance and CMB/WPB line of business teams through the provision of sanctions advice and training, provide advice and determination of controls designed to mitigate sanctions risk with respect to customer relationships, transactions and products and lead and co-ordinate regulatory reporting for HSBC UK with regards to sanctions reporting.In this role, you will:

  • Support and lead the wider advisory team providing SME sanctions advice in relation to customer and transaction referrals and assessing potential sanctions breaches.
  • Advising on risk management decisions concerning retention, exit and reporting for customers.
  • Advising HSBC UK Reputational Risk and Client Selection Committees on relevant CMB and WPB client relationships.
  • Lead sanctions regulatory reporting for HSBC UK though drafting disclosures to OFSI including breach reporting, asset freezes and license applications/variations.
  • Work with Financial Crime Investigations on live sanctions investigations.
  • Collaborate with sanctions legal to ensure risk-based approach within law and regulation.

RequirementsTo be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Deep understanding of UK/EU/UN/US sanctions essential
  • Sanctions experience essential, preferably gained from working in a global financial services business or consultancy/law-firm.
  • Experience in carrying out deep dive sanctions reviews.
  • Experience dealing with breaches and high-risk exposures.
  • Experience managing a team of advisors or lawyers.
  • Good understanding of the FCA rules (e.g. Systems and Controls)
  • Experience dealing with OFSI and understanding of legislation.
