Launched with a seed funding commitment of €500 million from the European Union, the Initiative represents an unprecedented global effort to invest in gender equality and women’s empowerment as a precondition and driver for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under the stewardship of the UN Deputy Secretary-General, the Spotlight Initiative’s core UN agencies are UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF. Other UN agencies, funds and programmes play key roles in implementing its programmes.Spotlight Initiative is responding to all forms of violence against women and girls, with a particular focus on domestic and family violence, sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, femicide, trafficking in human beings and sexual and economic (labour) exploitation. Spotlight Initiative is addressing legislative and policy gaps, strengthening institutions, promoting gender-equitable attitudes, and providing quality services for survivors and reparations for victims of violence and their families. Interventions will also strengthen systems for collecting data on violence against women and girls and empower women’s movements.Spotlight Initiative Secretariat is seeking a Partnerships Intern to backstop the work of this new and growing team in the areas of event and meeting preparation and support and stakeholder analysis and engagement.Duties and Responsibilities– Support Spotlight Initiative’s delivery of high-visibility events, in partnership with governments, the World Bank, and private sector actors as part of the 16 Days of Activism (November 2024) and Commission on the Status of Women (March 2025).
– Support the preparation of planning and scheduling meetings with partners, including preparing background materials, preparing agendas, background notes, and talking points. etc.
– Support stakeholder engagement, including with member states, the World Bank and other IFIs, donors, civil society, and others.
– Assist the team to draft meeting and event reports and follow-up on identified actions.
– Facilitate the sharing of Spotlight Initiative materials with partners based on their areas of interest.
– Perform any other duties as required.

– The intern must be either:
– enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or
– enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
– a graduate with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship with a two-year period of graduation;
– enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Language:– Good communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
