As a HSE Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We play a vital role in the security of the nation, supporting the equipment used by the British Army. This includes the fleet management of over 50,000 vehicles, ranging from quad bikes and generators to main battle tanks, and weapons from pistols to cannons.Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of Safety, Health and Environment guidance and support to operational managers at Babcock Vehicle Engineering, Walsall.Promote and deliver an enduring safe working environment across the contracts. • Provide advice to the contracts and site on how to implement current and future Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, and company policies and standards.

  • Review site risk controls, risk assessment and HSE safety arrangements and provide sensible and competent guidance to operations to ensure their HS&E arrangements are fit for purpose.
  • Conduct internal HS&E auditing and monitoring reviews and produce effective learning from such audits etc.
  • Support to operational teams and Senior HSE Advisor in ensuring they deliver local HSE improvements and local implementation plans.
  • Conduct low level investigations of accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure effective understanding and learning.
  • Compile and distribute reports and returns as scheduled and on demand.

This role is full time 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 4 days in the office/onsite and 1 day working from home, based at Walsall.Essential experience of the HSE Advisor

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body at Technical or greater grade (e.g., Tech IOSH), or working towards.
  • Ability to influence and work with employees at various levels.
  • Ability to perform basic risk assessments with the teams.
  • An understanding of current H&S legislation and where to obtain it.

Qualifications for the HSE Advisor

  • NEBOSHH General Certificate or equivalent or working towards.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (including Maths & English)
