Job Description:The Service Supply Chain Specialist (SSCS) will be responsible for the daily operational execution of service supply chain activities within their defined region or territory. The SSCS will ensure that local service KPIs are met and all local service supply chain requirements are fulfilled effectively. This role involves close engagement with the local Service Delivery team and managing first-level escalations within the designated region or territory.This role is based at Hemel Hempstead, reporting directly to the Senior Logistics Coordinator.Preference for someone from an Electronic, Automotive or Manufacturer background.It’s an individual contributor role, we’re not looking for someone who has managed teams.Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively use SSC processes and procedures to provide exceptional levels of customer service.
  • Ensure global SSC processes are implemented locally.
  • Collaborate with the global planning team to align stocking policies with regional or territorial needs.
  • Identify and resolve internal and external customer problems proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Work with various Logistics Service Providers to ensure their rates and services meet business needs.
  • Partner with regional 3PL partners (warehouses and transportation providers) to ensure compliance with business requirements and performance expectations.
  • Support the cycle counting process for all inventory held in the region or territory.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy in stocking locations across the defined region or territory.
  • Follow all procedures diligently, including documentation filing to ensure trade compliance.
  • Review the cost base at the required cadence to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Uphold the Smiths Code of Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics in all activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in a relevant field (or higher).
  • Relevant professional qualification and/or suitable background experience in inventory & logistics management/purchasing (e.g., APICS certification).
  • Proficiency in using all programs within the MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
  • Knowledge of SAP and WMS systems.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Supply Chain Specialist or in a similar role, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of supply chain processes.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, inventory management, and planning in both functional and cross-functional settings.
