Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow inAnaesthesia, Critical Care and Global Health in Bangor, North Wales.Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Anaesthetic department is keen to recruit a Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia and Critical Care with an interest in Global Anaesthesia to join our team of Trainees, Specialty Doctors and other Clinical Fellows working on our resident/on-call rotas.The post will involve a mixture of work on a 1 in 8 on call rota with 10% time (approx 20 days/yr) allocated to developing their global health interest.Main duties of the jobThis is a full time post with out of hour’s commitments. The job plan is negotiable, depending on individual’s interests and service requirements.As an example, a typical job plan will include:

  • 100% on-call commitment in Anaesthesia / Critical Care / Obstetrics depending on the candidates competencies
  • 80% per week daytime clinical work including Anaesthesia / Critical Care / Obstetrics depending on the candidates competencies
  • 20% (roughly 1 day per week) working on the development of a global healthcare initiative.
  • Professional development and teaching built in to each of the above.

The appointment is subject to the national Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of service.   • Full registration with GMC

  • ALS /ATLS/APLS or similar
  • Ionising Radiation Certificate

  • Has achieved appropriate level of core competencies
  • Completion of Foundation Program

Desirable

  • ITU and obstetric anaesthesia experience
  • Experience in paediatric anaesthesia
  • Appropriate levels of skills and abilities to provide anaesthesia for general emergencies for adults
  • Good working knowledge and experience of up-to-date anaesthetics

ExperienceEssential

  • At least 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • Evidence of interest in Quality Improvement
  • At least 1 year’s anaesthetic experience in a training post.

Desirable

  • Anaesthetic experience in a broad range of specialities.
  • Evidence of research relevant to Anaesthesia
