The Role: Remote AccountantWe are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a Remote Accountant, you will manage a wide range of financial and accounting tasks across our companies, focusing on remote work efficiency.

  • Location: Fully remote, open to candidates across Canada
  • Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week, with 5 hours of overlap with PST business hours
  • Compensation: $65,000 – $85,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Reconcile and post VISA statements.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding VISA payments prior to shipping.
  • Verify packing slips and vendor invoices against posted invoices for accuracy.
  • Process utility and vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Update financial tracking spreadsheets for all transactions, including eBay purchases and vendor payments.
  • Create and print rent invoices, ensuring timely delivery for cheque processing.
  • Create and print A/R rent invoices for multiple properties.
  • Receipt rents and parking fees, updating financial spreadsheets and reconciling bank accounts with the general ledger (GL).
  • Process new customer accounts and A/R invoices for security deposits for new tenants.
  • Generate A/P invoices for returning security deposits for departing tenants.
  • Manage electronic deposit of cheques and reinstate applications as necessary.
  • Facilitate intercompany fund transfers as needed.
  • Retrieve and reconcile invoices from various platforms (e.g., Bell Mobility, Telus, PayPal).
  • Create and email monthly parking invoices, ensuring timely payments.
  • Create and manage security deposit invoices for new tenants and refunds for those moving out.
  • Receipt all deposits and maintain up-to-date cash flow spreadsheets.
  • Regularly reconcile due-to/from accounts between different entities within the DROP Group.
  • Handle payroll processing directly, ensuring accuracy and timely payment to employees and maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • Generate payroll reports for DROP Group Companies via Ceridian/PowerPay, ensuring smooth cash flow management.
  • Assist with year-end financials, ensuring accuracy and posting adjusting entries as required.
  • Prepare reports to summarize financial data and track expenses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounting, ideally with property management experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, similar accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Experience implementing accounting software is considered an asset.
  • Experience working remotely and setting up effective processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
