This role is placed within the Thematic Research and Impact team, which oversees implementation of thematic aspects of the Group Sustainability Strategy. In addition to the Sustainability Assistant Analyst, the team is composed of the Head of Thematic Research and Impact and Group Nature Lead, Group Climate Lead, Group Social Lead, as well as one Sustainability Analyst.The Role:The Sustainability Assistant Analyst will support the Group Thematic Leads by conducting research on regulatory trends, peer best practices, and industry initiatives related to sustainability topics, such as climate change, nature, and human rights. The role will also assist on administrative tasks related to chairing group-wide working groups and committees, especially those related to social topics. This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring Sustainability professional to play a key part in supporting M&G achieve its ambitious sustainability vision and work closely with, and learn from, senior subject-matter experts.Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Conduct and effectively summarize research on social and environmental themes, including relevant frameworks, regulation, industry initiatives and peer best practices, related to financial services.
- Support the Group Thematic Leads in chairing group-wide working groups and committees by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking actions towards completion.
- Support the Group Thematic Leads with identifying collaborative opportunities and engaging with industry initiatives, NGO’s, Think Tanks, research institutions, and policy makers.
- Support the Group Thematic Leads with content creation to showcase ‘Thought Leadership’ on specific topics.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience within sustainability and preferably at a financial institution.
- Technical knowledge of sustainability, particularly social topics like human rights, modern slavery, and financial inclusion.
- Familiarity with financial services, including key initiatives and regulation affecting financial services in the UK and the EU.
- Familiarity with project management and ability to navigate a fast-paced environment, work independently, and juggle multiple tasks.
- Self-starter with a proactive and collaborative approach, who is able to effectively engage with key stakeholders across the group.
- Organised and thorough with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent office skills and practical experience of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Degree in a relevant subject would be an advantage.
