About The RoleRole: Linux Development Engineer
Contract Length: 12 Months with possible extension.
Location: Hybrid/Edinburgh or Glasgow – Onsite collaboration when required depending on project/team requirements
IR35: Outside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £537.25 per day
Security Clearance: Disclosure ScotlandSpinwell is recruiting for a Linux Development Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LINUX DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERAn experienced engineer with a strong Linux administration & software development background is required to assist with the launch of new network automation platformSKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE LINUX DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERSignificant and demonstrable commercial experience of the following:
- Programming skills
- Python3 – system programming
- API integration
- Strong software development methodology experience
- Experienced working with code repository systems in multi developer env
- Experience in delivering infrastructure projects via custom automation
- DevOps practices, including automation of infrastructure
- Ansible, including Ansible Tower deployment and administration
- Docker/Podman container and image management
- Agile working practices, including Kanban, retrospectives, VFQ.
- Customer focused, through proactive engagement
- Effective team working and technical decision making
- Creativity – taking new approaches to tackle problems; embracing innovation and sharing knowledge with a range of stakeholders
- Strong documentation skills
