Are you interested in being a part of our vibrant Crisis team? Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) is delivered by experienced, registered health care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master’s level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research, with demonstration of area specific clinical competence.Solent NHS Mental Health service line currently has a vacancy for one ACP from a nursing or AHP background, to deliver an advanced level of practice within our crisis resolution and home treatment team (CRHT). We would also welcome applications from those wanting a trainee ACP position, to develop an individual to deliver an advanced level of clinical practice. Please make it clear within your application which role you are applying for.Trainee ACP Application Requirements (band 7 position):Master QualificationFundamental to completing a trainee ACP role is gaining the MSc in ACP. This can be achieved through two possible routes:
- ACP MSc from a University in the Health Education England South-East Region (HEE-SE)
- ACP MSc Apprenticeship with the University of Bournemouth or the University of Winchester (currently being procured). (Staff will be required to have a C (5) or above in Maths and English at GCSE).
Main duties of the jobWhilst we support staff, alongside their supervisor and line manager, to decide whether they would like to undertake a standard or apprenticeship ACP MSc route at a University of their choice, the funding for the standard ACP MSc occurs following a separate HEE external review body. We will submit the application to HEE in March of each year but if it is declined staff will be expected to undertake the apprenticeship MSc.Supervision and work-based trainingTrainees are required to attend university teaching days, practise clinical skills in their workplace and complete work-place based assessments of competencies and capabilities related to emerging HEE frameworks. They will also meet their supervisor, manager and University regularly to plan their individual educational needs and monitor their progress across all four pillars of practice.You will be expected to work 60% clinical, 20% University time and 20% work-based learning time with this role as per attached trainee ACP job description and personal specification.Interview ProcessIf shortlisted, you will be expected to submit a personal statement in support of your application prior to interview. This should be an academic, referenced and reflective statement of 1000 words detailing:1. Why are you planning to undertake the ACP MSc program?2. How will training to work at an advanced level benefit the local patient population?3. - Evidence of post registration development in autonomous practice/clinical skills (e.g Masters/ACP Masters/PG Cert/PGradDip)
- Non-medical prescribing qualification &/or evidence of qualification in prescribing specialist equipment, care, therapies, lifestyle advice and care
- HEE Digital Staff badge demonstrating ACP accreditation with The Centre for Advancing Practice
