Position SummaryMagellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Engineer.

  • Full Time Permanent Contract
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm / Friday 7:30am – 1:30pm
  • Job location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP
  • Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
  • This role is governed by ITAR, restrictions may apply

This position exists to support the manufacturing planning creation & amendments in the Engineering department allowing qualified personnel to continue learning through accrued on-the-job training and job experience while performing essential duties for the company.Participation in implementing new systems or processes including creation of suitable written procedures or work instructions will be required. Essential Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the efficient manufacture of new and existing components through:
  • the timely creation and maintenance of product definitions with the Bill of Material database giving due regard to economic manufacture, material and subcontract content
  • the timely creation and maintenance of shop order routings giving due regard to estimated shop hours and customer quality and schedule requirements
  • liaison with customer, contracts, technical, and quality representatives on matters concerning concessions, deviations, product definition, tooling, inspection schedule, and corrective actions
  • the creation and maintenance of product definitions within the Bill of Material database
  • Actively contribute to efforts made in securing new business through the analysis of drawings and specifications during the evaluation and estimating phases of customer tenders providing suitable details for inclusion in final submissions as applicable
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the overall success of department specific projects through effective and detailed planning reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer and Production Manager
  • Hold regular meetings with the Engineering Department and management team as required to discuss the technical aspects and progress of ongoing projects against engineering programme
  • Ensure all aspects of the contract review are adhered to in order to support customer expectations
  • Collate and monitor estimated time v’s actual times via cycle time feedback process
  • Provide support and advice to colleagues with engineering queries and changes through the works query note process
  • Assist engineering colleagues with the development of new parts and product introduction through data evaluation
  • Manage electronic data transfer and management between Magellan, customers and suppliers
  • Work in a safe manner complying with all risk assessments and procedures in line with company Health & Safety policy, reporting any health and safety incidents that occur
  • Actively support and contribute to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing
  • Any other reasonable duties required by management in support of the business

Skills / Knowledge RequirementsAcademic:

  • Successful completion of a Mechanical Engineering or Technologist Course in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised College or University or relevant equivalent experience as detailed below

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a projects or planning role

Key Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of CNC Machining and Manufacturing systems
  • All round basic knowledge of CNC Machines and controls
  • Knowledge of MRP / ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excel, MS project with excellent IT, literacy and numeric skills
  • Strict adherence to deadlines
