Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As part of the Wealth Management, Platform Financial Control & Governance (“WM PFCG”) team is looking for a Manager, WM Platform Financial Controls in our Toronto head office.You will be part of a collaborative team culture that strives to challenge ourselves to be our best, think progressively to keep growing, and work together to deliver collective results.This is a challenging key role within the WM PFCG. You will be a leading part of the team that ensures that appropriate controls and processes are in place to support the accuracy and completeness of the balance sheet and income statement and provide accounting interpretation, guidance, and advice on transactions as they arise. Reporting to the Senior Manager, WM PFCG, the Manager will drive processes that produce accurate financial reporting and governance for this business.What you will do?

  • Support the WM platform team by ensuring business results are accurately reflected in the financial systems on a timely basis, including ensuring the integrity and completeness of the results in PeopleSoft and EPM.
  • Act as subject matter expert for Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) business in WM, including booking monthly consolidation entries for the SPVs and providing detailed commentary to senior management on drivers and variances.
  • Support period end close activities and deliver on several financial & management reporting deliverables, including but not limited to MD&A, note disclosures and regulatory reporting.
  • Review accounting policy issues and liaise with the Accounting Policy Group to determine appropriate accounting treatments. Maintain technical accounting knowledge and keep abreast of new accounting developments to provide accounting interpretation, guidance, and advice.
  • Responsible for ensuring new products and new transactions are appropriately captured in RBC Financial Reporting Systems, including the appropriate use of GLs and Financial Statement reporting lines.
  • Monitor the Canadian WM Financial Control environment by supporting BS attestation process and performing second level reviews of Standard of Documentation (SOD), following-up on queries, running monthly attestation meetings, updating risk rating & BRAGs in line with RBC policy.
  • Perform and update SOX controls as needed.
  • Lead special projects as assigned by Senior Manager, WM PFCG

What you need to succeed?Must Have

  • An Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA, CA)
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong financial and management reporting skills
  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, with an emphasis on Excel, including the use of pivot tables
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client service orientation – willingness to take all issues through to a successful resolution
  • High level of attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Financial Services industry experience with knowledge of the asset management industry
  • PeopleSoft and EPM (IBM TM1) experience
